Job Summary:

Responsible for setting up and providing instructions to patients and/or caregivers on the proper use of equipment and/or respiratory care products and procedures.

Essential Functions:

Deliver and set-up respiratory equipment for homecare patients in a timely and professional manner. Equipment includes but is not limited to ventilators, monitors and CPAP units.
Adequately instruct patients on the basic use for self-administration of respiratory therapy equipment, including but not limited to nasal CPAP, ventilation, nebulization therapy, suctioning, and oxygen therapy.
Demonstrate equipment operation by providing instruction for use of various types of equipment in the patients home.
Ensure patients and/or caregivers thoroughly understand how to operate and maintain the equipment.
Perform complete and professional patient assessments in accordance with policies and procedures.
Prepare and maintain a record for each patient containing all pertinent information including treatment records, physician prescriptions and follow-up documentation.
Inspect and test equipment to ensure proper operating condition.
Consult with referring physician regarding patient treatment, medical condition and home environment as needed.
Facilitate prescription collection as needed.

Additional Responsibilities:

Respond to delivery calls on an on-call basis.
Responsible for routine patient follow-up contacts, based on individual needs.
Maintain current knowledge of respiratory home care techniques and relevant respiratory therapy concepts.
Represent the company through professional appearance, demeanor, patient care activities and written reports at all times.
Promote teamwork among co-workers which includes accepting other duties and assisting other Respiratory Therapists as needed.
Demonstrate timeliness, courtesy, sincerity and patience when dealing with patients, clients and staff.
Remain compliant with D.O.T. and F.D.A. regulations.

Education and Qualifications:

Prior experience in home healthcare or CPAP experience preferred.
Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to apply.
Must possess excellent human relations skills to interface with patients, doctors and other referral sources.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Excellent time management and organizational skills required.
Good decision making skills.
Dependability and reliability a must.
Must be available to work overtime during the evening, nights, weekends, and holidays on call as needed.
Must pass drug screen and TB test upon offer
